Finding the right foundation is crucial to ensure your makeup looks its best throughout the day. With hundreds of products in the market, it can be difficult to decide which one is best for you.
Identify your skin type
If you have oily skin or you’re faced with humid weather conditions, it’s best to choose a oil free foundation. This will mean that your T- zone stays matte throughout the day. On the other hand, if you have dry skin and face colder/dryer weather conditions, choose a heavier foundation that moisturizes. For sensitive skin prone to breakouts, look for a non comedogenic foundation that wouldn’t clog your pores.
Finding your match
Test the foundation on your chest or on the back of your hand. If you don’t trust the store lighting; step outside. Wait at least 15 minutes to see how the foundation absorbs into your skin. If you can’t find your perfect match, try mixing two colours together.
Application
When applying foundation, make sure your skin is moisturized and exfoliated. If you have oily skin, you can skip the moisturizing and just exfoliate. When applying your foundation start with applying small dots with your finger all over your face. Apply less at first, you can always add more if needed. Sweep your foundation on your face using clean fingers and make sure you apply it into your hairline and where your chin meets your neck. Check if your face matches the color of your neck and chest.
